Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 9

Jinwoo finally crafts the Elixir of Life, healing his mother. Curing his mother was the main reason he became a hunter. It’s rare that a character reaches his main goal so quickly. Still, there are other threats on the horizon that the series has teasing, so I would imagine that he would shift his focus. Jeju Island has been causing issues since the beginning of the series. Now it will take center stage.

This episode introduces the top hunter of the series, Goto Ryuji. He’s the Guild Master of the Draw Sword Guild, which was the strongest guild in Japan and the second largest in Asia. The next arc is being introduced. It will focus on the Jeju Island Raid, as the S-Ranked hunter from Korean and Japan try to clear the Jeju Island S-Rank Gate. Each country sends S-Rank hunters, for Korea, Cha Hae-In, Baek Yoonho, Choi Jong-In, Ma Dongwook, Lim Tae-Gyu, and Min Byung-Gyu and from Japan, Goto Ryuji, Minoru Hoshino, Mari Ishida, Kanae Tawata, and Atsushi Kumamoto, Tatsumi Fujishima, Kenzo Tanaka, Akari Shimizu, Ippei Izawa, and Kei.

Go tries to recruit Jinwoo for the raid. They head to the Gym to watch some of the S-Ranked hunters train. Goto decides that he wants to see the skills of the some of the hunters and challenges them to a sparring match, on one team, Hae-In, Baek, Goto, and Ma. The other team features, Kumamoto, Hoshino, Tawata, and Tanaka. So far, Solo Leveling has only given us glimpses of the other hunters.

The way the arc is being step up, Jinwoo might take a backseat to the other S-Rank hunters. I’m excited to see the skills of the S-Ranked hunters. In the end, Jinwoo will likely have to save the day but as long as we get to see the others I don’t care.
