On the up side, this may legitimately be the worst show of the next season. And year.
This had a two episode pre-air online special on Abema and Crunchyroll yesterday, but doesn’t actually begin airing until April 5th, so no third episode until the 19th. I despise it anyway, so who cares. And yes, I’m feeling especially snippy because my hosting appears to be getting worse and more unstable.
Impressions:
Oops, already gave away my opinion. It’s a particularly loathsome flavor of revenge fantasy cheat powers with the sole twist being that it’s in space instead of fantasy. That’s it. That’s the only change. He reincarnates into wealth and power, which it tries to say is actually not super great, just ignore the slave harem he starts with, a mountain of riches, and an armada, and immediately sets out to be a piece of human excrement because he was bullied so much in his previous life. Also, ignore that he neglected his family, neglected his friends, neglected himself, and only paid attention to the Faustian demon offering to sell him happiness through his phone. But sure. It’s everybody else who was evil here, which means it’s fine to both sides it and be a piece of garbage himself. After all, his harem of demihuman slaves all love it.
All right, so some of that is only hinted at in the episode’s flash forward teaser, and even if you somehow survive through the first two episodes, you won’t get to it. But rest assured, that’s where it goes, and worse. There’s about five minutes here of really shoddy space opera battles that even Galaxy Angel would’ve upstaged back in 2001, game or anime, and then it’s 15 minutes of his “I was so unfairly bullied by everybody, woe is me, I’m just a Nice Guy ™” routine that every one of these godawful revenge fantasies do. If you survive all the way to the second episode, you get twenty minutes of his young life where he constantly gropes his slave maid. But his parents abandon him, so he’ll grope her some more and declares revenge on the world. That’s it. That’s the whole second episode. Groping a slave and being a sack of crap because everybody is garbage, so be garbage too. And if you think this is already sounding bad, then stay tuned for the season preview, because it finds ways to get worse.
