Zatsu Tabi – Episode 1 – Going on an Adventure After a Setback

Suzugamori Chika is a struggling Mangaka who seems frustrated about being unable to get her draft rejected. As she faces a multitude of bad luck, she decides to take a breather.

Chika decides to lie in bed after a bad day.

As expected, being a mangaka is not an easy job, as getting her draft approved can take multiple attempts. She brought in three drafts. That is, despite winning a prize in a contest, her editor rejected them. Yep, she walked back home without an umbrella as she got wet. Eventually, a car ran into a puddle, and Chika became wet. Yep, she is having a bad day despite winning a contest through a miracle.

Chika finds out a lot of people voted to select where she should go for a trip.

As Chika washed up and rested in bed, she relaxed as if things were not working out as a mangaka after watching a TV show of two guys wanting to adventure as they rolled a die to figure out where to go. Chika got the idea to do the same. After creating a poll where she should go, Kojiya Fuyune boosted it and got a lot of votes. With that, Chika no longer has to tune back as she goes north to Aizu in Fukushima Prefecture.

Of course, besides riding the Shinkansen and having a station bento, she went sightseeing and eventually checked into a hot springs inn. There, she had a nice dinner and time in the hot springs. Also, she seemed to like her room, although it cost a bit. Also, she witnessed a lady getting drunk at the bar. That woman eventually shows up for breakfast and enjoys curry.

Chika went up to over 1200 steps, but end up at a temple, but without a great view.

Chika recieved rejection again, which means one thing. She wants to go on another trip.

Lastly, Chika went through the 1225 steps to get to the shrine. Although she struggled, I find it funny how she became disappointed there was no view after getting to the top. All that effort for nothing, but at least she got to pray at the shrine and get a good workout, although her legs hurt. Even if she felt refreshed, she still got her draft rejected on a rainy day and wanted to go on another trip.

Overall, it’s a fun episode. This show reminds me of Yuru Camp, but without the camping so far with young adult women instead. From the looks of the first episode, she went on various trips to Japan. That said, everything looks so lovely that it feels refreshing. That said, one of her friends might tag along on one of her adventures next time. We’ll see next time.
