Cancer Immunotherapy in Cuba and Switzerland – Somatosphere

Nils Graber, postdoctoral fellow, History of Science Department at Humboldt University, Berlin, in conversation with Fabien Provost, social anthropologist, French Research Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

In this episode, we delve into the scholarly journey of Nils Graber, where the ethnographic exploration of immunotherapy within the healthcare systems of Cuba and Switzerland reveals a narrative of global exchange and local adaptation. Initially engaged with a Cuban NGO, Nils embarked on a path that led him to develop an interest in oncology within the Cuban context as part of doctoral work. His ongoing collaborations with the Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) at the University of Lausanne offer a unique vantage point on the development of immunotherapy, drawing fascinating comparisons between his observations in Cuba and in Switzerland. Nils also provides invaluable insights about his fieldwork experiences, detailing his trajectory from his involvement in primary care to his initiatives of participatory research with nurses.
