Hi Friends!!
Two weeks before Christmas I decided to paint our living room. Yes, I know that sounds crazy, but I had been contemplating doing it for a while. I always say that paint colors are a personal choice, and I was craving something a little cozier for our living room. While I will still say that white is my favorite color to paint a room, I was ready for a change after having white walls in our current living room (and at our previous house). So today, I’m sharing the official reveal of the new paint color in our living room.
Come and see ~

I was craving something a little moodier for the walls in our living room. Our living room is located in the back of our house, and the location and overall layout of the space was calling for a cozier feel. I’ve spent the last two years looking through paint colors, contemplating whether or not to paint, and as fall came to an end I was ready to pull the trigger.

The new paint color prompted a new gallery art grouping behind the sofa, and I also reworked some of the photos I had hanging on the wall to the left as well.

After testing multiple colors I ended up painting our living room Downing Stone from Sherwin Williams.

I wanted a paint color that would contrast with our curtains but also help balance out all of the brown tones we have in the space. Downing Stone is an earthy tone that feels like a warm gray with a soft green undertone. Depending on the natural light in the space it can lean one way or the other making it sort of a chameleon color.

My favorite is how it compliments the wood picture frames and furniture, as well as the hardwood floors we have in our living room. It gave our living room just the cozy hug it needed.

Below, you can see this view of our console table with our walls painted white, and then next in the new paint color Downing Stone. I can’t decide which I like better, but I have been enjoying the new feel of our living room so far.

Our living room has more of an “L” shaped layout, which I have found makes it a little more challenging to photograph, but I wanted to share an official reveal and document the change our living room took with this new, cozier color. Below is actually the view you see as you first enter our living room. Our large windows overlook our backyard, giving us one our favorite views in the house.
