College is one of the best places to meet new people. And there’s no shortage of potential in the near-28,000 student body at Ohio University.
But what do you do if you’re trying to move into one of the many popular student rentals in the area and your friends are already paired up? Or maybe you’re heading back to the dorms next year, and you don’t totally love the roommate that the university tried to play matchmaker with. Or maybe you need one extra person to go in on that huge and affordable student rental with four bedrooms that you and two of your friends found. You get the picture.
The office of Housing and Residence Life at Ohio University are putting on what’s more or less a social mixer to help returning students find new friends and potential roommates for on-campus dorms and off-campus student apartments close to campus. Even if you’re all squared away with your plans to live in a spacious Ohio University rental home next year, you never know who or what you’ll find at social mixers.
What Does Housing and Residence Life Have Planned?
Any good mixer will have plenty of things for participants to engage with to help act as an ice breaker for some good, natural conversation.
Attendees can look forward to plenty of games and activities to serve as a social buffer while you interact with other students looking to meet new people or find potential roommates for the on-campus dorms or an off-campus apartment for rent. Plus, Housing and Residence Life will have Insomnia Cookies catered for the event.
Students will have 2 hours to take part in this mixer event. While you’re probably not going to know the life story of everyone you just met, you’ll get enough time to feel out whether they could make for an interesting and likable roommate come next year.
Join Housing and Residence Life and all the other attendees on February 12th, 2025 from 5-7pm for an evening of activities and games centered around getting to know one another.
