Apple has long been rumored to be developing a new smart home hub, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously suggesting a launch could happen as early as this month. However, following Apple’s confirmation that certain Apple Intelligence Siri features have been delayed due to development challenges, Gurman now reports that the release of the home hub has also been pushed back, leaving its launch date uncertain.
“At one point, the company had hoped to announce this product in March,” Gurman wrote in his Power On newsletter. “But because the device, to an extent, relies on the delayed Siri capabilities, it has been postponed as well.”
The delayed Siri features include Personal Context, which allows Siri to track emails, messages, files, photos, and more, helping users with tasks like locating specific emails, retrieving documents, or recalling personal details. Onscreen Awareness will let Siri interact with content displayed on a user’s screen, enabling actions like adding a shared address to a contact card or sending a visible photo to a friend. Deeper App Integration will empower Siri to handle more complex, multi-step actions across apps — such as moving files, editing images, and sending messages — without requiring manual input.
Gurman previously described the upcoming home hub as potentially Apple’s “most significant release of the year.” He characterized the device as a “smaller and cheaper iPad” designed to help users control smart home appliances, conduct FaceTime calls, and manage various tasks.
