Foldable iPhone Could Launch In 2026 With Crease-Free Display, No Face ID, And Heavy Price Tag

The first foldable iPhone is set to arrive in 2026 according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, and it’s going to be ultra-premium, both in design and price. Expect it to cost over $2,000 which would make it one of Apple’s priciest iPhones yet.

The foldable iPhone will feature a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen, making it similar to an iPad mini when unfolded.

Apple is focusing on a crease-free display, something most other foldables struggle with. The phone will also be super thin—just 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded, beating most foldables on the market today.

Due to the thin design, Face ID won’t make the cut. Instead, Touch ID is coming back via a side button sensor, similar to what’s on the iPad Air. This will make it the first iPhone without a home button to use fingerprint recognition.

Expect a dual-camera setup, with a front-facing camera that works whether the phone is open or closed. The stainless steel and titanium alloy hinge will add durability to the device’s premium build.

Apple plans to mass-produce the foldable iPhone in late 2025, with an initial batch of 3-5 million units for 2026. Sales could reach 20 million units by 2027, including a second-gen model.

Oh, and Apple isn’t stopping here. Kuo says an 18-inch foldable MacBook/iPad is also in the works.
