Is there any non-nefarious reason for Amazon ending the ability to download your purchased Kindle books to your computer? As of February 26, they are removing that option.
I can see that there might be an issue with supporting old Kindle models that don’t have WiFi, but what about those of us who do not have a Kindle device? I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading through the Kindle app on Macs, and I can’t find anything saying “Oh, that won’t be affected.”
Finally, is there software that will translate Kindle-coded books to something else – that isn’t under the threat that Amazon could just take it away on a whim?
