Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro Review: My New Favourite Gaming Mouse

Razer has launched its DeathAdder V4 Pro gaming mouse. The lightweight and accurate gaming mouse is faster and comfortable to use than many other Razer gaming mice, including my long-favourite Basilisk V3 Pro.

The Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro is the first mouse to adopt the company’s HyperSpeed Wireless Gen 2 technology. With this, the gaming mouse offers 63 percent greater power efficiency and reduced latency by 37 percent over its predecessor. The battery is long-lasting. Over the past few weeks of all-day use, I’ve managed to squeeze upwards of 130 hours on average from the battery when using the 1,000Hz mode. However, by only using this mode, I’d be overlooking the 8,000Hz support the device offers.

DeathAdder V4 Pro supports up to 8,000Hz polling rate when in wireless and wired modes. It is exceptionally fast and responsive using this mode. The mouse is designed to be used for games that require fast responses or twitchy movements, like Call of Duty or other competitive esports. With its 8,000Hz support, the gaming mouse supports a 45K optical sensor. The DeathAdder V4 Pro offers up to 45,000 DPI tracking, making it a great addition to any competitive player’s toolbox. There are also 900 IPS and 85 G support as well, so Razer provides a lot of resolution accuracy in this mid-sized gaming mouse.

The DeathAdder V4 Pro is the first gaming mouse with an Optical Scroll Wheel from Razer. The new adoption of this technology allows for more precise navigation using the scroll wheel in games or when browsing the web. Razer also claims it’s more durable than a traditional mechanical scroll wheel. In fact, it’s said to triple the durability and consistency, even under intense gameplay. With its new optical sensors, the gaming mouse delivers buttons rated for 100 million clicks. While a bit on the louder side, the DeathAdder V4 Pro’s left and right click buttons are satisfying to use. In and out of playing games, the button clicks are speedy and reliable. The device also has side thumb buttons for navigation on the web as well as additional controls when playing games.

Razer’s DeathAdder V4 Pro is also incredibly lightweight, weighing only 56gs for the black model. The white model is 57gs. With an ergonomic design, my hand has never cramped up while using it for productivity or while playing games. Razer ensures that the device is made of 67 percent bio-based and post-consumer recycled plastics. The only issue I find with the product is that it is designed for a larger grip. With a design made for larger hands, I have to adjust my grip a little bit when compared to the use of the Basilisk V3 Pro or the Cobra Pro.

In Canada, the DeathAdder V4 Pro is available to preorder for $249.99. The device launches July 24th.
