Vision Pro To Soon Support Sony’s VR Controller, Says Gurman

Apple and Sony are working together to bring PlayStation VR2 hand controllers to the Vision Pro headset, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

This collaboration has reportedly been in progress for several months. While Vision Pro already supports PS5 and Xbox controllers, they aren’t designed for full VR experiences.

These controllers lack six degrees of freedom (6DOF), which is essential for precise movements in virtual reality gaming.

Gurman recently shared in his “Power On” newsletter that the feature is still under development. He expects a visionOS software update later this year to introduce support for Sony’s VR2 controllers.

The potential use of these controllers goes beyond gaming. They could allow users to interact with the operating system more precisely, offering a better control experience.

While this update may not significantly boost Vision Pro’s sales, Gurman believes it shows Apple’s continued interest in supporting gamers. Adding Sony’s VR2 controllers could be a step toward making Vision Pro more appealing for VR enthusiasts.
