Meta is working on addressing a major limitation of WhatsApp for iPhone: the lack of multi-account support. A new beta update of the app adds support for using multiple accounts within the app.
WhatsApp for Android gained multi-account support in October 2023. However, the feature never made it to the app’s iPhone version.
WhatsApp for iPhone testing multi-account support
iPhones support dual-SIM connectivity, enabling you to connect to two mobile networks simultaneously. In theory, this meant you could use two WhatsApp accounts on a single phone, as each account is tied to a unique phone number.
In October 2023, Meta officially introduced multi-account support for WhatsApp, turning this theory into reality—but only for Android users, with no word on when iPhone users would get the feature.
More than 1.5 years later, it seems Meta is finally ready to add multi-account support to WhatsApp for iPhone. A new beta build of WhatsApp released on TestFlight (v25.2.10.70) indicates the feature is under development.
As WABetaInfo reports, you will be able to add a new account by scanning a QR code. This will link the second account to your iPhone as a companion. Or, you can set up the app again and add the second number then.
The feature can take a while to roll out to the public
Since the feature is still in beta testing, it’s not available to all users. It should make its way to WhatsApp’s stable channel on the iPhone within the next few months.
Right now, you cannot use two WhatsApp accounts on an iPhone unless you are willing to switch one of the numbers to WhatsApp Business.
More recently, Meta gave the WhatsApp calling experience a notable upgrade with support for video effects, filters, and higher resolution.
