Reef Casa has released a new refugium light aimed at all in one’s that retails for $72-$136 depending on the accessories purchased. In the past people have opted for the DIY route when it comes to setting up a refugium in an all in one. This has been due to the lack of commercial options which allow consumers to easily add a refugium to a back chamber.

Reef Casa has taken advantage of this void in the market with their new Nova fixture. The light can either be mounted to the back of a system using Velcro or Additionally, it can be paired with a refugium planter box which enables the growth of macro algae in a confined space helping to limit it’s potential spread or drift to the return chamber of an all in one.
Additionally, if users have a Reef Casa tank they can utilize the filtration cover to prevent light spillage from the fuge into the room/display. The Nova has 9 watt’s of total power and comes with a blend of 660nm, 470nm and 420nm LED’s. The physical unit is 4″ x 4″ x 0.5″ (10cm x 10cm x 1.3cm) and covers up to a 10″ x 6″ area.

Consumers can choose to purchase the light alone or throw in the gooseneck mount or planter refugium box as optional accessories. We will be getting one of these units at the Reef Builders studio to play with. I am excited for the possibilities it provides (high nutrient input nano NPS tank anyone?)
The fixture is currently available for purchase here.
