The World’s Largest Aquarium Trade Show Returns to Guangzhou

CIPS 2025 in Guangzhou, the world’s largest aquarium trade show

The China International Pet Show — or CIPS 2025 — is celebrating its 29th edition and will take place in Guangzhou (Canton) from Thursday, November 13 to Sunday, November 16.

This year marks a milestone for DaniReef: not only are we returning to cover the world’s largest aquarium trade show, but we have also been selected as an Official Media Partner of the event — a great honor for us. Even more exciting, we’ve also been appointed Official Media Partner for the 3rd Asia Clownfish Competition (China)! We can’t wait to bring you exclusive coverage of a show that is truly unlike anything in the Western aquarium world. If you want a taste of what’s coming, check out our 2017 editorial from our first visit: CIPS 2017: We were there and here’s what we saw.

CIPS: The 2025 Aquarium Event in Guangzhou

CIPS is the most important pet industry event in all of Asia, with a rapidly growing international reputation and a major focus on the aquarium sector — especially marine aquariums. The Asia Clownfish Competition alone demonstrates the level of passion and expertise involved. Covering more than 100,000 square meters, CIPS is the meeting point for Asian manufacturers and global distributors — a true world stage for the aquarium and pet industries.

The China International Pet Show returns to Guangzhou in 2025 from November 13–16 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex).

The first edition of CIPS took place in 1997 with just 86 exhibitors. Today, the show hosts more than 1,200 exhibitors across 130,000 square meters — a staggering expansion that mirrors China’s rise as a global market leader in the pet and aquarium industries.

A Trade-Only Event

Access to CIPS is reserved for registered professionals only. If you’re a retailer, distributor, or aquarium store owner, this is a unique opportunity to connect with top manufacturers from China, Korea, Japan, and beyond.

We’re sure this year will bring new surprises — and DaniReef will be there on-site to share them with you through articles, photos, and video reports.

3rd Asia Clownfish Competition (China) 2025: The Global Challenge in Guangzhou

One of the highlights of CIPS 2025 will be the 3rd Asia Clownfish Competition (China) — a prestigious event for breeders and clownfish enthusiasts. Organized by Haiyang with the official support of CIPS, the competition includes three main categories — Percula, Ocellaris, and Hybrid/Wild — and gathers participants from all over the world.

The international judging panel will include experts from Taiwan, Singapore, the United States, Thailand, and China, who will evaluate the healthiest and most beautiful specimens. Sponsors include leading aquarium brands such as Fluval, Nutrafin, Waterlife, NEWA, Cubic Aquarium Systems, API, and Bingo Aquatic Solutions, confirming the competition’s prestige and relevance.

DaniReef will attend as an official media partner, bringing exclusive coverage from Guangzhou — with interviews, photos, and stories dedicated to clownfish breeding and marine aquarium excellence.

Other CIPS 2025 Highlights

In addition to the clownfish competition, CIPS 2025 will host a wide range of international championships and themed contests covering nearly every aspect of the aquarium hobby. From the CIPS Global Arowana Championship and CIPS Global Tigerfish Championship to specialized tournaments for stingrays, goldfish, bettas, and medaka, the lineup brings together top breeders and some of the most iconic ornamental fish species in the world.

The event will once again feature artistic competitions such as the CIPS Biotope Aquarium Contest (CBAC), the International Aquascaping Contest (CIAC), the Marine Aquascaping Contest (CMAC), and the Open Ecological Aquarium Contest (COAC) — showcasing the world’s top aquascapers and their stunning underwater creations.

Overall, CIPS 2025 promises a true global celebration of aquarium passion — blending art, science, and innovation to honor aquatic biodiversity in every form.
