Vibrant Corals Imports Sick Acropora millepora With a Surprise Splice | Reef Builders

Last week Vibrant Corals and Fish located in Irving Texas brought in an absolute stunner of a millie. Hailing from Golden Reef Solomon Island this piece features a green base with purple/pink corallites at the base and dark blue/purple corallites at the axial tips with green polyps. It’s not hard to imagine how well this wild piece could continue to “cook” under the right chef’s care.

On top of this colony already being multicolored and full of potential it also has a few striking branches that are spliced. On the top center of the colony you can see a sprinkling of bright yellow and green coming out of one of the branches in a lightning bolt pattern.

In addition to this splash of color the main “splice” action occurs in the center right of the colony with two branches that have bright pink, yellow and green axial tips and corallites contrasted against the original dark blue and purple base of the colony slowly invading it’s way to the growth tip.

It will be great to see how this piece continues to develop in captivity and we will update you if it makes its away around the industry. If you’re interested in what else Vibrant Corals and Fish contact your LFS (Vibrant is wholesale only) or check out their website here for more information.
