Hello, everyone!
Here’s my stop for Pillow Talk Blog Tour hosted by Emmanuel @emmzxieewiggzzybooks.
Thanks to him and Alyssa for providing the review copy of this book. Rest assured this will not affect my thoughts about it. You can check my review below.

Poetry
SYNOPSIS: A collection of poems carefully picked to describe my teenage years while suffering from Bipolar II Disorder.
When I first made this booklet, I initially had a more pessimistic theme in mind. I had wanted it to be the anti-thesis of the “Love Conquers All” idea that had gotten popular in the mainstream.
But as I got older, I realized that it described the vicious cycle that I was stuck in. I noticed this pattern while I curated my poems for my booklet–my strongest poems were often written at my best or at my worst.
But it’s never one or the other, it’s a slow transition. Like I said, a cycle.
The poems in this booklet were a manifestation of my symptoms. It’s not perfect, and it’s a whirlwind of emotions but I hope you grow to appreciate the vulnerability like I did.
(tw: depression, suicide ideation, and self-harm)

Alyssa’s Pillow Talk, accounts her personal and honest experiences in a form of poetic verses written at her best and worst situations. Every poem that includes in this booklet reflects deep and shallow emotions that tackle sensitive topics like depression which right off the very beginning of this book, trigger warnings are mentioned. With 52 pages, you’ll witness already a lot of feelings coming out every few lines and passages.
“How are you doing?”
One of the lines from ‘How Are You Doing’, among the poems, is the thing that caught up with me. I know any of us can relate since this is an easy question yet somewhat complex to answer. There’s really a difficult approach and that poem (not in usual form but still poetically fine) tells it all. You’ll just don’t know what to answer to it but saying ‘you’re fine’ is ok although underneath there’s more from it.
In all, this collection of poems is a beautiful imperfection created with the right choices of words. Showing her (Alyssa) vulnerability through this is already an act of braveness and letting the readers know and learn from it. I highly recommend it to anyone out there experiencing the same feeling of suffering from pain, and depression with their internal battles and broken-hearted. Hope you give this book a read!
