The Christmas season brings with it tons of new books. If the book is really good, the book will be read year-round. This new book I received from the author is definitely the type of book that children will continue to ask for.
About the Author
Peter Wiholm has written articles, short stories, screenplays and reviews for a wide variety of publications, and his storytelling is also demonstrated in his short films, documentaries, music videos and photos. He lives in Vancouver, Canada with his wife and daughter. Grumpy Gnome is his first children’s picture book.

My Review
Grumpy Gnome is a beautifully illustrated book about the story of a gnome. He’s stopped being the House Gnome that he was in the past. A House Gnome stays with a family and offers them magical help, without them seeing him in action.
Grumpy Gnome is living in his little cottage, inside a tree trunk and is surrounded daily by annoying ducks. They are positive and want him to become a House Gnome again. His last family lived in a farmhouse in the country. He left 100 years ago.
One day the ducks came to him and said that the house was on fire. He grudgingly climbed on the back of his pig, that could ride through the cold and snow. He thought the family was dumb until he sat outside and heard the father speaking to his daughter.
He realized that they had hit rock button and needed help. Did he jump into action? This is a cute and sweet book with magically lovely illustrations. You’ll love it.
