OVERALL: The Trouble with Heroes

The Trouble with Heroes is a cleverly told, moving story about the father-son bond and the healing power of the outdoors. This one combines adventure, heart, mystery, suspense, and flashbacks in a beautifully crafted narrative. Finn’s ELA assignment is to write 20 poems of different kinds — acrostic, haiku, found poems, and villanelle — making this a great book to teach poetry. An impressive debut with strong kid appeal and emotional depth.
