In this post, we’ll take a look at what I earned from side hustles and the gig economy in February 2025.
Side Hustle Income for February 2025
Total Side Hustle Income for February 2025 = $237.18
This was a very weak side hustle month for me, and indeed, perhaps the lowest-earning side hustle month I’ve ever had. I think a few things contributed to this.
First, the weather in February wasn’t great. Since a lot of my side hustle income comes from food delivery and since I use a bike to get around, I don’t get a lot done when it’s really cold out. February tends to be the coldest month in Minnesota, so historically, February has always been a weak month for me (but to be fair, it’s never been this weak).
Second, my motivation wasn’t great in February either. Much of this had to do with the weather, but I also was just feeling a bit distracted most of the month. This also helps explain why I didn’t do a ton of side hustling in February.
Here’s a more detailed overview of my earnings for February.
Rental Income: $2,400 (Not Included In Total)
The rental property continues to generate consistent revenue and good cash flow without a ton of work on my end. It did snow a bunch in February, so I did have to spend some time shoveling snow (I handle the snow removal since I work nearby and it gives me a chance to check on the house).
The only maintenance costs I had in February were the final payment on a glass replacement I had for an exterior storm window that had cracked. It ended up costing me $118 to replace the glass on this window, which isn’t too bad.
One thing I’m debating about doing is paying off the mortgage and having a cash-flowing property with no mortgage. Mathematically, it definitely doesn’t make sense to do that. I’m sitting on a 2.75% interest rate, which might be the lowest rate mortgages are ever at for my lifetime. Still, I only have about $97,000 left on this mortgage and I have enough cash that I could pay it off. I probably won’t do it, but it’s interesting to think about having a property with no mortgage on it.
Rover Income: $153
I had one Rover booking in February, which was for one of my regular clients. Rover remains steady, although I’ve noticed things have started to slow down recently. I’m not sure if there’s more competition in the area or if I need to do some work on my Rover profile, but whatever the case, it seems like things have been slow for me on Rover.
DoorDash/Uber Eats/Grubhub Income: $19.82
Here’s the breakdown of my food delivery earnings in February.
This was the lowest amount I’ve ever earned from these food delivery apps. For February, I only ended up doing three total deliveries – one on DoorDash and two on Uber Eats. Interestingly enough, the money I earned from food deliveries was from deliveries I did while I was visiting my parents in Washington DC, which means I didn’t do any food deliveries in Minneapolis during February.
I’m not usually this lazy when it comes to food delivery, but February didn’t work out well for me because I was busy with other things and it was too cold for me to bike outside. This number will go up in the future now that spring is coming.
Wag Income: $14
I did one random Wag walk in February for a dog in my neighborhood. I’ve seen this Wag request come up fairly regularly, but it’s always in the evening when I’m busy with dinner and getting my kids ready for bed. This time, the timing worked out a bit better, so I decided to go ahead and grab this walk. The dog lived in a house just one block over, so it was an easy walk around my neighborhood.
I don’t do Wag walks too often because they’re not that profitable to me (the travel time to the house plus the fixed walk time makes it difficult to earn a lot from this side hustle). I find Wag really only works for me if the dog is located extremely close to where I am. Wag can also work well when I’m traveling in another city since it gives me a way to walk around and explore a new city and earn some money while I do it.
Trash Finds/Flipping Income: $30
I sold a hammock stand on Facebook Marketplace for $30. This is a hammock stand that we found many years ago and have been using, but haven’t used in the past few years. It’s been sitting in the backyard taking up space, so I finally got around to listing it. This is one of those items that most people would think have little value, but when you look at how much a new hammock stand costs, you can see that someone who needs something like this will want to buy it at a bargain if they can. Getting this thing sold and making some money to get it out of my house is a good deal for me.
ProductTube Income: $10
ProductTube earned me $10 in February. I should be using this app more, but I haven’t been doing a good job of checking it regularly. For the most part, ProductTube income will probably continue to be around this range most months.
Google Opinion Rewards/Surveys On The Go/1Q/Facebook Viewpoints Income: $6.56
Here are my earnings from each of these short survey apps.
Both Google Opinion Rewards and 1Q performed normally. I’ve removed Surveys On The Go from this list, as that app has become fairly useless for me. Facebook Viewpoints is okay, but I don’t get a lot of surveys from it.
Secret Shopping Income: $0 (but lots of free food)
I wrote about it a few posts ago, but unfortunately, I got booted off Marketforce, which means I’m missing out on most of the regular secret shops I was doing before. I don’t care too much about the food I was getting from that app, but the app did pay well and actually became my third highest-paying side hustle after Rover and the food delivery apps (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub). Losing Marketforce is definitely a bummer, but getting deactivated with no recourse is a risk you take with these gig economy apps.
I’m still getting a lot of good secret shops from other secret shopping websites, however, so while I’m not earning a lot of money from secret shopping anymore, I’m still getting plenty of free food. One new website (at least new to me) I’ve been using a lot is The Jack Network, which has been giving me a lot of very good secret shops over the past few months. Some other ones that I’ve relied on a lot in the past seem to be getting weaker though (the shops on A Closer Look, for example, have been getting noticeably worse).
Going forward, I won’t be earning much money from secret shopping since I’ve lost Marketforce, but I should continue to get some decent free meals out of it.
ReceiptPal/Receipt Hog/Fetch/CoinOut/Amazon Shopper Panel Income: $3.80
Amazon Shopper Panel has gotten worse, but I still can earn a few bucks from it each month. Previously, it was a guaranteed $10 per month, but now, getting $3 or so each month from Amazon Shopper Panel is about the best I can hope for. The other apps will continue to pay about $40 to $50 each year, so I’m still making decent money from the random receipts I’m getting.

February was a very low-earning side hustle month for me for a variety of reasons, primarily weather and general lack of motivation. It goes to show that if you do want to earn side hustle income, you do have to put some effort into it. Fortunately, the weather is getting better, so I’ll hopefully be out there hustling some more.
