How to Tell If a Call from Bancorp Insurance Is Legitimate

Watch Out for Spoofing Calls: How to Protect Yourself from Scammers Pretending to Be Bancorp Insurance

Over the past week, we’ve been made aware of a concerning issue: some of our customers are receiving spoofed phone calls that appear to come from Bancorp Insurance—but they’re not from us. These calls are part of a growing trend of scammers trying to impersonate trusted businesses to trick people into giving out personal information.

At Bancorp Insurance, your safety and privacy are our top priorities. That’s why we want to make sure you understand what spoofing is, how to spot it, and what to do if you’re ever unsure about a call.

What Is Spoofing?

Caller ID spoofing occurs when a caller deliberately falsifies the number that shows up on your caller ID display in order to disguise their identity. While this technology can be used for legitimate reasons—such as a business showing its main office line when calling from a different location—it’s commonly misused by scammers pretending to be banks, insurance agencies, or even government offices.

In these recent spoofing attempts, scammers have used Bancorp Insurance’s phone number to make it look like we’re calling you—when in fact, it’s not us at all.

How to Tell If It’s Really Bancorp Calling You

At Bancorp Insurance, we will never call you without leaving a voicemail. If you see a missed call from our number and don’t receive a message, it’s a good sign that the call may not be from us.

If you ever question whether you’re truly speaking with a Bancorp Insurance representative, you have every right to hang up. In fact, we encourage it.

Instead, call us directly at our main line: (541) 536-1726 and ask to speak with your agent. We will gladly verify whether someone from our team reached out to you.

We Will Never:

  • Call you out of the blue and demand personal or payment information.
  • Ask for sensitive details like Social Security Numbers, credit card numbers, or banking information unless we are in a secure, verified conversation with you.
  • Rush you into making a payment or taking immediate action under pressure.

What to Do If You Get a Spoof Call

If you receive a suspicious call that appears to be from Bancorp Insurance:

  1. Don’t give out any personal or financial information.
  2. Hang up immediately.
  3. Call us back at (541) 536-1726 to verify if the call was legitimate.
  4. If you believe you were targeted by a scam, consider reporting it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or your local authorities.
