How To Collect Disney Digital Pins (NFTs)

Disney Pinnacle is a new NFT platform in collaboration with Dapper Labs where users can collect digital pins of their favorite Disney characters.

Physical Disney pins are popular among collectors and have been a thing for many years. As NFTs have become more mainstream, they now offer digital pins instead.

Here’s how you can collect Disney digital pins (NFTs) on Disney Pinnacle.

How to join Disney Pinnacle and collect digital pins

At the time of writing, Disney Pinnacle is in beta and you need to join the waitlist before you can purchase digital pins. Also, the app seems to be on iOS only for the moment, but they should add Android in the future. This means you need to have iOS to use the app (for now).

It took me about 2 – 3 days to get approval to sign up for an account.

Types of Disney digital pins users can collect

This part is based on your own preference. Trading of the pins is not available at the moment as you can’t withdraw them out of the platform. However, they should be tradeable in the future.

You can collect pins based on your own interest or based on what you think it’s worth in the future, if you’re a flipper. There are Disney characters from Lucas Film (Star Wars), Walt Disney and Pixar.

If you’re new to the app, you can purchase pins from three different areas, i.e. Welcome Bundle, Revolving Storefront or Mystery Capsules. The Welcome Bundle can be purchased once and it’ll feature Starter Editions of iconic characters.

For the Revolving Storefront, it’s basically a small list of Open Edition pins you can purchase every four hours. Once the time is up, it will be shuffled to some other pins. As for the Mystery Capsules, they are typically available for a week or so, and it’s basically a gachapon. There’s a list of Open Edition characters you can get with different variants so it’s based on luck. You can see the percentage / chance of getting each variant.

As for myself, I purchased the Welcome Bundle first and started collecting more via the Revolving Storefront or Mystery Capsules. There are also limited edition drops that only occur once in a long time. It costs the most but many will try and grab it (as they’re limited).

Basically, your pins are either Starter Edition, Open Edition or Limited Edition.

As for variants, you also have types to look for. The most scarce is probably Chaser which you’ll rarely see. There are also Digital Displays, i.e. pins that have a bit of animation, or even Golden and Silver Sparkle variants. These 3 are next in line, and you’ll of course have the common ones without any special look.

If you’re in the beta now, you also get to buy the First Printing which signifies the first wave of pins. The longer this goes, the rarer the First Printing pins will be, logically.

Do note that all of this is not financial advice.
