What’s Changing and What You Can Do

Registry Prices Are Changing on January 14: Here’s What You Need to Know

If there’s one constant on the internet, it’s change. Sometimes it’s exciting (like finally launching your dream site). Sometimes it’s just necessary. This is one of those times.

Starting January 14, several domain registries will update their wholesale pricing. That means you might see some changes to the renewal prices of certain domain extensions. Nothing wild, but it’s worth a heads-up.

Which domain extensions are affected?

If you own a domain ending in any of these extensions, this update is for you:

  • .MOBI
  • .FUN
  • .IO
  • .SITE
  • .PRESS
  • .INFO
  • .PRO
  • .STORE

Don’t use any of those? Take a victory sip of your coffee and carry on.

Why are prices changing?

Domain registries occasionally adjust their wholesale rates. This isn’t unique to Rebel. It’s not a reflection of how much you use your domain. And it definitely isn’t a punishment for ghosting that email we sent in April.

We’re simply the messenger here, making sure you’re equipped with the right info, at the right time, to make the right decision for your online presence.

What’s changing? Let’s talk numbers (briefly and painlessly).

Here’s the breakdown of what’s changing and by how much, effective January 14:

TLD Current Renewal Price (USD) New Renewal Price (USD) Change (%)
.MOBI $59.99 $79.99 33.34%
.FUN $49.99 $59.99 20.00%
.IO $89.99 $99.99 11.11%
.SITE $49.99 $54.99 10.00%
.PRESS $109.99 $123.99 12.73%
.INFO $34.99 $41.99 20.01%
.PRO $37.99 $41.99 10.53%
.STORE $79.99 $83.99 5.00%

TL;DR: .MOBI is seeing the biggest jump. The others? Mostly mild to moderate increases. No fine print. No asterisks.

What you can do about it

Renew early. Pay less.

You can renew your domain for up to 10 years at the current rate — but only if you do it before January 14, 2026.

So if you know you’ll be keeping your domain long-term, locking in today’s pricing is a smart, proactive move. It’s also one less thing to worry about in your business. And who doesn’t love that?

What Rebel is doing (and not doing)

When prices shift, we don’t play games.

Here’s what we did do:

  • Reviewed every registry’s new pricing
  • Absorbed some of the increases ourselves
  • Only passed on what was absolutely necessary
  • Gave you a simple, honest chart
  • Let you know before anything changes

It’s part of our commitment to being your partner, not just another platform. Transparency matters. And we believe being clear is a form of kindness.

Not sure what to renew?

It’s okay if you’re unsure which domains to hold onto.

Our team is here to help you prioritize what matters to your brand, and drop what doesn’t. We’ll help you think long-term, not just react to pricing.

We’re real humans. We’re friendly. We speak fluent web without the jargon. And we genuinely want to help you build something awesome.
