You will learn more from history about human behavior than from financial markets. You will learn more from stoics, Taoist than from anywhere else.

Once Confucius was asked what would make person best suited for riding a boat. Confucius said that the best skill would be that person should be an excellent swimmer. For if he knows how to swim even if the boat shakes or is turned upside down he would be fine.

Any wise investor always welcomes the volatility and it is to his advantage. So he looks for the downside first and the upside will take for itself.

It is my strong belief that the best investor out there is anonymous and he cares little for the fame and recognition. He comes every day opens his laptop finds companies, reads annual reports, reads further and reads all day. Goes home plays with his kids or grandkids and spends time with his family. His worth is in billions and billions. Yet no one knows him. He has given almost all of his money away.

Mostly he is quiet, calm and does nothing. By doing nothing everything is done. It seems cocky and delusional. For the untrained eye it is all in the air, but the one who understands the Tao knows what I am talking about.

They say in Taoism to empty your mind. In practical terms what they mean is empty your mind of all likes and dislikes, biases and prejudice. When you are not excited with increase and not desolated with paper loss. When you can hold the fort and know the real value you will not care much about all these things. So empty your mind from greed and fear and act with the sane mind.

They say if you want the claps go join the circus. Just do it for the love of it . All else is just noise.
