We all go through those moments when life throws us a curveball, and recently, I had one of those experiences—right in the middle of preparing for my annual vehicle state inspection and registration. This time around, it wasn’t just a matter of checking my truck’s engine or emissions. It became a spiritual moment, a lesson in trust, obedience, and discernment. That’s why I feel led to share it—not just with anyone, but specifically with singer-songwriters, rappers, producers, and musicians. You pour your soul into your music, but today, I encourage you to pause and Inspect and Register your life just like you would your sound equipment or lyrics. Make sure your heart and spirit align with the Word of God, just as your beats and bars line up in the studio. Life needs its tune-up too. Prayer, discernment, and obedience aren’t optional—they’re essential.
When Your Vehicle—and Your Life—Needs a Checkup
Let me paint the picture: my old but dependable truck was due for its annual inspection. If you’ve ever owned an older model vehicle, you know the stress. I’m on a tight budget, so the idea of a costly repair wasn’t exactly exciting. But I also know the inspection is important—it keeps the vehicle safe, roadworthy, and legal. In that moment, the Lord gently nudged me to Inspect and Register more than just my truck. Was I spiritually roadworthy, or was I ignoring warning signs flashing in my own life?
I did a basic On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) scan to see how things looked. Not surprisingly, the results weren’t great. Some trouble codes popped up, and I knew my truck would likely fail the inspection in its current state. Determined to fix it, I replaced a couple of parts, thinking that would solve the issue. Nope. Still not passing. I took it in for a preliminary inspection, and the mechanic pointed to another part that needed fixing—more money, more labor, and more stress. I started second-guessing everything.
Divine Intervention at the Auto Store
As I was digging through YouTube and forums, hoping for answers, something incredible happened. God showed up. I stumbled across a video by someone with the exact same make, model, and year of my truck. This person explained how a simple $6 fuse might be the root of the problem. A fuse! Not a costly sensor or computer part. They recommended replacing it before throwing money at anything else.
So, I followed the advice and bought the fuse. Funny enough, while I was at the auto store, I nearly walked out with those expensive parts I didn’t even need. My plan was to knock out all the repairs in one go—get it over with. But here’s where it gets wild: when I tried to buy the more expensive parts, the cashier couldn’t ring them up. She tried again and again, even called the manager over. Same result. No one could process it. But they rang up the $6 fuse just fine. Frustrated, I left the store, forgetting the original reason I came in. Later, it hit me—God was stopping me from spending unnecessary money. He was guiding me, even when I wasn’t fully paying attention.
Don’t Skip the Fuse: Spiritual Lessons in Unexpected Places
Back at home, I installed the new fuse. And guess what? My truck passed the inspection with flying colors! 🙌🏾 But that’s not even the best part. Y’all ready for this?
My truck’s AC, which hadn’t worked in YEARS, suddenly kicked back to life. That’s right—ice cold air, baby. I sat there in awe, just feeling that breeze hit my face like a fresh wind from heaven itself. And listen… if you’ve ever survived a summer in Houston, Texas, you know AC isn’t just a luxury—it’s a lifeline. You could literally fry eggs on the sidewalk out here. 😂
So no more speeding down the freeway with all the windows down like I’m in a wind tunnel, praying for some cool relief. Hooray for smooth rides and no more DIY tornadoes inside the cabin! 😎
Creative Souls, Take Time to Inspect and Register
This isn’t just a car story. This is about you—the artist, the dreamer, the beat-maker, the songwriter. How often do we rush ahead with projects, release music before it’s been spiritually filtered, or make decisions based on impulse rather than prayer? You wouldn’t release a song that’s out of tune—so don’t walk through life spiritually unaligned. Take time to Inspect and Register your heart. Check your purpose. Is it built on God’s truth? Are your lyrics reflecting His grace, His love, His standard?
Just like that fuse, sometimes what’s broken isn’t what we think. Sometimes it’s something small and unseen that’s keeping us from passing life’s inspection. Ask God to show you. Don’t just lean on your understanding—lean into His Word, His Spirit, and the wisdom He freely gives.
A Shoutout to God’s Grace and Provision
I’ll be real with you—I was almost mad when the cashier couldn’t ring up the part. It seemed like such a simple thing. But looking back, I realize that was God’s hand in motion. He saved me from wasting money, from frustration, from unnecessary stress. He showed me, yet again, that He will supply all our needs just like Philippians 4:19 says. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to stay connected to the One who does.
So, if you haven’t already, now’s the perfect time to Inspect and Register your life according to Scripture. You might be surprised by how God steps in—especially when you least expect it. Let Him direct your steps, even in the little things. He’s faithful like that.
