Bakke Development and BCDC have broken ground on TalleyBak Storage, a 774-unit self storage facility in San Antonio’s Alamo Ranch/West submarket. The development is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Bakke-affiliated company and general contractor for TalleyBak, Storage Independent Contractor will be working together with the project’s chief architect Alamo Architects and civil engineer MBC Engineers.
TalleyBak Storage will be a three-story, 82,938-rentable-square-foot facility. The development will feature climate-controlled units, a loading dock, two service elevators, as well as CCTV and card access security systems. The facility will be branded, operated and managed by a national storage REIT.
Expanding in metro San Antonio
Located near Wiseman Boulevard and Talley Road, the facility will be some 24 miles west of downtown San Antonio. Northwest Vista Collage will be within 4 miles of the future property. Additionally, more than 25,000 new residential units are planned or under construction within a 3-mile radius of the development.
This is the eighth project the partners have undertaken. Last year, alongside the same construction and design team, they broke ground on a 751-unit storage facility in San Antonio, at the intersection of SW Loop 410 and Palo Alto Road. The project is scheduled for completion this year. Other developments by BCDC and Bakke Developments include storage properties in McAllen, Weslaco and New Braunfels, all in the state of Texas.
As of February, there were 3,240 self storage properties in all stages of development nationwide, according to a recent Yardi Matrix report. The pipeline included 783 properties under construction, representing 3.1 percent of total stock—down 10 basis points from the previous month.
