The most expensive home sold in Marin is one of my most popular blog articles each year, and I am pleased to present it as we kick off 2025. Those who read this article each year will note that 2024 was an anomaly in several ways.
First, the top sale of $13,950,000 is the lowest-priced sale in the ten years I have been writing this article. Overall, the top 10 most expensive homes in Marin moved downward a bit in 2024, breaking the $10 million price point to end at $9,100,000.
Second, Mill Valley and Tiburon did not make the top 10 this year.
2024 was a strange year for real estate in Marin County as we came off a tough 2023 when the market reacted to higher interest rates and tech layoffs. While the median sales price in Mill Valley was up 2.3% for the year to $2,250,000, it declined by 2.7% in Tiburon to $3,485,000. I believe much of this was due to buyers sidelined by lower tech bonuses and a presidential election year that caused a lot of uncertainty.
Finally, California Governor Newsom bought one of the homes in the top 10, but since discretion is the better part of valor I won’t be identifying which one that is. Perhaps you can guess!
Ross claimed the top spot, with 11 Southwood Avenue selling for $13,950,000. Stephanie Lamarre, one of my esteemed colleagues at Golden Gate Sotheby’s Realty, represented this beautiful property..
