Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 KJV
Hey guys! long time no see, I’ve been out here adulting and approaching the end of grad school; currently, I’m in my last round of internship and lately, I’ve been reflecting on the interactions I’ve had with my clients, especially my young clients. I’m interning as a clinical counselor in training for those who don’t know and there are plenty of times that I think about my own childhood and how I’ve navigated throughout life based on what I needed to learn or unlearn as an adult. As a 30-something-year-old managing life, I can say that I wish I had known more about finances early on in life and this is where this book review comes into play.
Money Mike and the Gang are here to help kids learn about money. But not just that, They’re here to teach kids the biblical principles behind finances and how God’s Word teaches us to be good stewards of our resources. The authors, Charles and Angela Todd are a married couple who have walked with God in understanding how the Bible instructs us to use money whether it’s investing, tithing, spending, or saving, children are sure to gain fundamental concepts of managing money and understanding it’s purpose.
They’ve taken the knowledge given to them and packaged it in an easy-to-read format that the children in your life can understand. There are 4 books in the series, all with engaging and colorful characters that exemplify characteristics related to biblical principles to help young readers connect scripture to practical skills that they can utilize in their lives. This book helps parents instill healthy financial practices in their children and facilitates becoming a teacher and mentor in this area as well. These materials are a great way to bring the family together while even teaching adults financial basics that we might have missed out on growing up and holding accountability between parent and child.
I LOVE this set! I’ve been obsessed with these books since they arrived at my door. I have no children, but I can use these books myself! I’m excited to learn about financial literacy from a perspective that has passed, my childhood is over but it’s never too late to learn what God’s Word declares about anything! So, whether you have children, godchildren, nieces, nephews, youth groups, Sunday schools, after-school programs or Christian counseling offices bring the joy of Money Mike and the Gang to the children in your life today!
