Rava for spinach dosa

I used cracked wheat. Fine Godhumai rava soaks well so I prefer it. If you are using big grits( pulse once. You can also use regular rava

Can I skip rice flour

Rice flour gives Nice texture for the dosai so I recommend it

Spinach alternative 

You can use veggies of your choice. Spinach doesn’t need require additional cooking so I didn’t cook separately.

Can I skip besan flour 

It helps for dosai texture and also adds little protein to the dosai

Add-ons for dosai batter

carom seeds, curry leaves, and mint leaves, or any flavor of choice.

SHELF LIFE FOR DOSAI BATTER

Since we used spinach, I would recommend finishing the batter in 2 days

CONSISTENCY OF dosai batter?

Dosai batter is not so thick you can either spread or cover and cook;,make a thick dosai

Instant rava appam

Add  a pinch of baking soda and makes appam

Soak:

1/2 cup cracked wheat

1 cup hot water

Grind:

1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 green chili

25 grams spinach

Turmeric powder

Salt

2 tablespoon rice flour

Onion

1/4 cup water

1/2 tablespoon besan flour

Cook:

Sesame oil

How to make spinach Godhumai rava dosai with step by step pictures 

  • Soak cracked wheat in hot water for 10 minutes.

  • Add all ingredients under “Grind,” then blend into a batter.

  • Add besan flour; mix well. Rest the batter for 10 minutes.

  • Pour a ladleful of batter and spread evenly.

  • Drizzle sesame oil and cook until both sides are golden brown.
