Winning battles in Final Fantasy requires more than just resilience and determination… to be victorious in these battles we must both know our enemies as well as effectively plan our strategies. Running into combat and simply mashing the attack button is a recipe for disaster… elemental enemies will absorb and even be strengthened by attacks that use the same element, while only ranged attacks are effective against flying foes. Our method of engaging our opponents in battle must be strategically aligned with the specific weaknesses of the adversaries we are facing at that time, and employing any other technique is an ineffective and misguided waste of our time.
As followers of Christ, we will all face daily battles on this planet, and we can’t expect to defeat the “airborne adversaries” that we are fighting with by using “ground attacks”. We aren’t wrestling with flesh and blood opponents… we are engaged in battle with spiritual enemies that are skilled in convincing us to engage them on their terms and tricking us into confronting spiritual strongholds using the same “elemental” tactics that only serve to strengthen them. Let’s turn our attention away from the physical manifestations of these dark forces tempting us to fight fire with fire and hit them where it counts… prayerfully aligning our actions with Christ’s power to take them down.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
