This article WAS supposed to be one of anticipation.

Prediction, if you will.

However, I couldn’t get to it fast enough.

So instead, it’s one of a CELEBRATION!!!

My fav of the five won!

The short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film!

I had the pleasure of watching all 5 shorts at 3 Below Theaters located in downtown San Jose, CA. It was a petite theater that showed all of the Oscar nominated short films! Though I only watched the live short action category, I wish I had stayed for the documentary and animation categories.

I sat right behind an older couple.

Hard of hearing as they asked questions for the whole room to hear. There were about four  or five outbursts within the two-and-a-half-hour period so you could imagine how annoyed a few people were.

I thought it was hilariously cute but, each film was much different than the other.

I’m the type of person that don’t want to know too much about a film before going to see it. I enjoy the unraveling of the story, the roller coaster of it all. I don’t like to anticipate what I already know about the film. Perhaps its why I’m sharing this now.

It’s why I wont be telling you anything about them except for the first thing that came to mind after sitting down and pondering on them afterwards.

I’ll encourage you to support local artists as well as those in front and behind the screen. If nothing else, I learned that it is more rewarding to receive all of facts before making an informed decision. When it comes to everyday life of course, but also when rooting for an artist or film to win.

Even if it means watching every movie nominated moving forward!

My thoughts:

The After- “Riveting”

Invincible – “Potential. You can’t confine those with brilliant minds.”

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar – “so unique, out of the box, reminded me of my scripted podcast CROSS in the way that it was told. I loved Dev Patel’s performance the most!”

Red, White, and Blue – “Wow”

Knight of Fortune-“find the light in the grief, or fix it…or try to…at least?”

After leaving the theater, I was inspired to write a short myself.

For all I know this article IS one of anticipation, or prediction after all.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO….Bever-leigh!!!
