Last Thursday the Painting Class went on our first Plein Air outing of the season at Memorial Park. Naturally, Wednesday night a cold front blew in, so to stay warm that morning we all decided to paint in full sun. However; this method comes with added difficulties. First, the painting and pallet have to be in the same light, and even then the colors will tend to be darker when you bring the painting indoors. Not to be discouraged and because this group is such good sports, they were madly blocking in the composition and painting in no time! The painting above was painted a few years ago in this location, but this time I was Way too busy hopping from one artist to the next to paint. After all that effort, by 12:30 all our stomachs were starting to growl, so we packed up our paints and were in the restaurant in 15 minutes. Luckily Becks Prime in Memorial Park is very close and after we thawed we all agreed that somehow that hamburger was the Best we ever tasted!
