“Labyrinth” is an original acrylic on canvas painting by Sally Trace. It presents a dynamic interplay of geometric shapes; each filled with gradated hues that play across the canvas. The bold outlines create a sense of undulating movement, suggestive of dance steps with a rhythmic sway. This lively and colorful composition extends a mellifluous sensibility to the viewer.
This blog post is also a long overdue newsletter email. I’ve been out of commission for quite a long time due to extensive personal health issues, including cancer. Everything has changed for me. It’s difficult to leave the house. I can no longer draw at local events. This has been a valuable alternate income stream for me for many years. That’s now lost.
Nobody ever said that growing old was going to be easy.
During my recovery months, I dealt with many of the hundreds of infringements and unauthorized uses of my art because I was able to do that from a recliner with a laptop. They have continued to grow and multiply despite my efforts. I believe this is because during the pandemic, many nations came online, and citizens were delighted with all of the “free” images for them to copy and misuse. No one taught people the basic courtesy of respecting the copyrights of living artists.
Such is life in the 21st century.
So now I’m gradually getting back into my studio, which has been calling and beckoning, and patiently waiting while I regain my strength.
