On Being Thankful

Heaven on Earth is a choice you must make, not a place you must find.
— Wayne Dyer

🍁 As we begin, I send best wishes for a Thanksgiving filled with joy, safety, fun, and heartfelt gratitude! 🦃

In the U.S., Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November, but the feeling behind it—pausing to reflect and give thanks—belongs to all of us, no matter where we live.

Most of us know what it’s like to feel pulled in different directions, whether we’re worrying about the future, thinking about the past, or just trying to find balance right now. For artists, these challenges often manifest as creative blocks, self-doubt, or a sense of isolation.

Today, I want to talk about something essential: clarity and gratitude. My work has always been about more than just art marketing. I believe that supporting artists means sharing practical advice for both your art business and your life. Building resilience, self-awareness, and a sustainable creative practice are just as important as any marketing strategy.

Thinking about these changing times, I’m reminded of my own journey and the privilege it’s been to help artists share their work. I’m grateful for everyone who reads Art Marketing News and trusts this space for ideas and encouragement. Thank you for being part of this community.

A Song for Reflection

For nearly 20 years, I’ve shared Tracy Chapman’s “Heaven’s Here on Earth” as part of my Thanksgiving tradition. The song captures what this season means to me: a time to celebrate, connect with family, and appreciate what we have. The lyrics‘ message is a reminder that peace and connection are possible right now.

“Heaven is found in the small, present moments we choose to embrace. The past holds lessons; the future holds potential, but today is where life truly happens.”
— Roy H. Williams

As you reflect on your journey, I encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences with your community. Listen to the song, let its message resonate, and allow your reflections to inspire and support others who may be traversing similar paths.

Closing Thoughts

At this moment, remember that your art is more than just expression. It’s a way to stand firm and bring hope, healing, and resilience to yourself and others—every creative act matters.

I’ve seen so many artists turn their struggles into stories that help others. The Art Marketing News community has taught me a lot through your spirit, openness, and commitment to making art even when times are tough. I’m deeply grateful for this journey with you.

This season is a good time to look back on what we’ve accomplished and the connections that keep us going. Our art isn’t made in isolation. It brings people together, sparks new ideas, and adds to our shared experience.

Your creative journey is unique, with ups and downs, inspiration, and lessons learned along the way. Embrace each part of it. Let your experiences guide you toward growth, compassion, and exciting discoveries.

As we navigate these changing times, I hope your creativity guides you. Let your art be a place of comfort. Find strength in your community and hope in what you create.

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating the holiday wherever you are—may your tables be filled with connection, your hearts with gratitude, and your spirits with endless possibility.
