📢Tell US About…Thursdays. A Monthly Global Challenge. #WritingChallenge #WritingMeme

I am joining the 📢‘Tell Us About’ Meme which is now run by Marsha from https://marshainthemiddle.com/

This month’s topic ‘Thursdays’, was chosen by Me! Anyone can join in and write their own post and there is a linky set up to add your posts for others to read too. The posts are planned for the second Wednesday /Thursday of the month depending on world time zones.

Thursdays are my big walking day, when I make sure that I take my walk. One of my favourite places is close to where I live on the Hampshire – Surrey county border. It is on MOD (Military of Defence) land which is open to the public and is still used by the army for some training today. If is a stone’s throw from Aldershot ‘Home of the British Army’ and more than once I have come across soldiers camping and training during my walks.

I walk in the area between the yellow, orange and pink roads.
Water catchment areas

The hilly area has many pine trees and an old reservoir lake which is now used by a fishing club. All around are signs of past water management channels. There are walking trails throughout and even the site of an old Iron age hill fort called Caesar’s Camp which has stunning views all the way to London on a clear day. Abutting the woods is Tweseldown Race Course, once used for Point-to-Point racing, but now a site for three day eventing and pony clubs.

Fishermen at the lake

Other days I might stumble upon a film crew, as the woods are regularly used for location filming – a scene from Game of Thrones is just one of these. I’ve witnessed stables of horses, chariots and all the paraphernalia of filming. On different days I might find Orienteering runners making their way between marker points as well as all the usual joggers, dog walkers mountain bikers and fellow hikers.

Two more of the lake and then Tweseldown Race Course

I also have my own ‘3 peaks challenge’ that I do. The terrain has several steep inclines to make me puff, I deliberately choose three steep bike trails to ascend on this walk. There is even a trigonometry point at the top of my first ‘hill’, it makes me feel like I’ve had had a good work out at the end of all three.

Now let’s see how the other core team ‘Tell Us About’ members tackled this month’s topic (please note that due to world time zones, some of these posts may not appear immediately):

Marsha from https://marshainthemiddle.com/  has loved Thursdays since she was a teenager.  And, the reasons are very, very different!

Leslie from https://onceuponatimehappilyeverafter.com/  had a giggle when she discovered this month’s theme. She and her daughters have a private joke about ‘Thursdays’.  Hope you will stop by to find out more.

Debbie from https://debs-world.com/ has gone with the first thing that came into her head when she heard the topic of Thursdays – a children’s nursery rhyme.

Suzy from https://www.suzyturner.com/ shares a nostalgic look back at why Thursdays once held a special kind of magic during her early days working at a newspaper in Portugal.

Sue from https://www.womenlivingwellafter50.com.au/ is Celebrating Thursdays the quietly powerful day of the week that is  a reminder to bloom.
