2025 is here and new year means new goals! I always enjoy creating goals for the year or the month (whether I actually manage to get them done is another matter). I have a goal and tracker notebook, a reading tracker spreadsheet and this blog! How do other people go around making goals for 2025? How do you track them?
Goals
- Read 200 books
- Read 80,0000 pages
- Read all the books on my 2025 TBR
- Bonus: Read the 10 bonus books on my 2025 TBR
- Get my NetGalley to 90%
- Up to date with all my reviews on Storygraph
- Read the complete Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction Longlist
- Read the complete Women’s Prize for Fiction Shortlist
- Complete the Pop Sugar challenge
- Complete the Reading Harder challenge
- Have my TBR balanced at the end of the year (or in the negative) – this means for every book I buy, I have to read a book I own (though not necessarily bought in 2025). And as a penalty to this, I am going to say that if the TBR isn’t balanced at the end of the year, I’m going to make it balanced. So if I end up with +90 again, I am going to have to get rid of 90 books. Incentive!
- 50% of books bought in 2025 read in 2025
2025 TBR
This year I didn’t look at the books that I had missed on my last yearly TBRs (I did consider it for a while), but rather I went around on my shelves and see what books I’ve gotten fairly recently and whether I’m excited to get to them soon. Some of them I will admit had become almost a chore to consider reading and so I’ve mixed them up with books that I’ve received that I’m genuinely excited about. Why do I keep books on my TBR that I almost dread reading? Because sometimes books can surprise you when you get over that hump (Rebecca was one of them, I stopped and started it at least twice and I finally finished it at the end of 2024). This year, I intend to try The Fifth Season one more time and if it still doesn’t work for me, then I’m getting rid of the whole series.
