Author Grady Green is having the worst best day of his life. Grady calls his wife as she is driving home to share some exciting news. A year, later Grady is still overcome with grief and desperate to know what happened to Abby. He can’t sleep and he can’t write, so he travels to a tiny Scottish island to try to get his life back on track. There he sees the impossible a woman who looks exactly like his missing wife. Wives think their husbands will change, but they don’t. Husbands think their wives won’t change, but they do.
MY REVIEW
What a lovely way to start the new year off with an Alice Feeney’s new novel for January 30th 2025. It’ my favourite novel by Alice and Beautiful Ugly is the best best ever. Grief stays with Grady, an author, for well over a year after his wife’s car was found abandoned. The only thing that the police found was Abby’s red coat. Abby can’t be presumed dead until seven years have passed. As Grady’s wife is missing he stumbled upon writers block. His publisher sent him to Scotland to help him write, there wherever he goes around the small island he seems to see his missing wife, Abby in a red coat. At first I was wondering through drink and lack of sleep if Grady was having hallucinations. Beautiful ugly is a must read must buy to read immediately. Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeny, needs a speeding ticket for the being the fastest, the very best, page turning, twisted novel, for January 2025. No one can fail to see why this story is called Beautiful Ugly!
