About the Book

Schoolteacher Rosy Winter is dying. But, beyond the homeopathic remedies, the dinner party obligations, the snatched whispers on wards and in staffrooms, a force – murderous, feminine, feverish – is stirring within her. A story of power and powerlessness, light and dark, life and death, Mrs Jekyll embraces the paradoxes and paroxysms of modern womanhood, in a story every bit as gripping as the original.

My thoughts:

As always, check your trigger warning because I’m not your mommy. This was my first book by Emma Glass so I was going in completely blind. It was definitely a much different read than the books I usually pick up, more literary than commercial, but the blurb intrigued me and I decided sometimes it is good to get out of my comfort zone and shake things up! Here’s a quick look at some of the things you can expect:

🔺 bleak yet addictive

🔺 devasting & haunting

🔺 cancer (TW)

🔺 aspects of the bizarre and surreal

🔺 phenomenal character growth

🔺 short, quirky chapters

🔺 a twist on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Would I recommend this book? In a devastating second… but prepare yourself. If you are looking for a story that really packs a punch and will leave you thinking about it for days, this definitely is one of those books! It’s intense, thought provoking, dark at times and worth checking out.

My thanks to Cheerio publishing for sending me the book. All thoughts are my own.
