Edward has enjoyed a lovely festive season. He awoke on Christmas morning to find his stocking stuffed with chocolate – he has, after all, been a very good bear. Also under the tree was a marvellous surprise, a new friend. Please may we introduce Lord Geoffrey.
Within minutes of meeting the two bears noticed they shared an uncanny resemblance. Labels were checked and much excitement ensued. Lord Geoffrey, like Edward, was handmade by the English Teddy Bear Company in Cambridge. As this fine business was bought by a rival in order to close it down these bears are now rare, and very special. Not only has Edward gained a new friend, that friend is family. What a wonderful gift.
Edward was delighted to introduce Geoffrey to another English Teddy Bear who lives in his house. Jasper is a larger bear and of the Regent lineage, whereas Edward is from the Gainsborough line. Geoffrey doesn’t know his immediate family heritage but with such a clear resemblance to Edward was happily embraced. After many years in storage he is counting his blessings to have finally been adopted by such a loving and welcoming sleuth.
The three bears saw in the New Year together, enjoying a glass or two of fizzy giggle juice. During the party that developed Edward introduced Geoffrey to another friend, Miss Lily. These two have become inseparable since.
After a busy year with such an exciting end, Edward was ready to settle down for his annual hibernation. Geoffrey and Lily, meanwhile, were caught up in finding out all about each other’s backgrounds and interests. They enjoyed long conversations over cups of tea and a shared love of good books. This looks to be developing into a very special friendship.
There are many more adventures planned for the coming months which Edward is looking forward to sharing. In the meantime he will enjoy his long and well deserved sleep, happy in the knowledge that his newly found cousin is being well looked after by a discerning and lovingly attentive friend.
