A missing student. A singular investigation. A new romance. Every bit of it is a mystery in a delightful novel of cosmic twists by the author of How to Win a Breakup.
East House is the oldest and least desirable dorm on campus, but it has a draw for lonely university freshman Aleeza Kassam: Jay Hoque, the hot and broody student who vanished from East House five months ago without a trace. It’s irresistible to an aspiring investigative journalist like Aleeza.
But when she starts receiving texts from Jay, the mystery takes an unexpected turn. To put it mildly. His messages are coming not only from Aleeza’s own dorm room but from the past—only weeks before he disappeared. Sharing space, if not time, Aleeza and Jay are living the impossible, and they start working together to prevent his inevitable disappearance. Causing a temporal paradox that could blow up the universe is a risk they’re going to have to take.
Aleeza digs through Jay’s suspicious friends, enemies, and exes, determined to find out what happened to him. Or what will happen to him. But it’s becoming more than a mystery. Aleeza is catching feelings for her charming new roommate. Wherever, and whenever, he may be.

☂️ TRIGGER WARNINGS:
racism, missing person, drug use, poverty.
Oh I had so much fun reading this book!
It’s about Aleeza, moving into the room where Jay, a popular student, disappeared 5 months ago… and suddenly getting texts from him. I loved the unique concept for this story and found that it perfectly mixed mystery, hints of romance, discussions of class, privilege and racism all bundled up in an addictive kind of story.
I loved the atmosphere, really grew fond of the characters, the slow-burning everything in it making me root for them all to be okay, in the end. Definitely recommending this one and I can’t wait to read more from the author.

The splintered relationship between two Indian American cousins is at the center of this dark, twisty YA mystery—perfect for fans of Tiffany D. Jackson, Karen McManus, and Angeline Boulley.
Shy, nerdy Tanvi has always thought of her perfect cousin Mimi as her sister. Not only did Mimi’s family raise Tanvi after the tragic death of her parents, fierce Mimi has always protected Tanvi at school. At least until Mimi fell under the spell of their flawless, rich classmate, Beth . . . Tanvi’s biggest bully.
Fearing another terrible year, Tanvi decides to take a desperate, preemptive strike—and captures an incriminating photo of Mimi and Beth at a party. When Tanvi wakes up the next day with a bump on her head, scratches on her leg, and no memory of what caused her injuries, Mimi is gone.
When the investigation for the missing girl takes a dark turn, Tanvi begins to fill the gaps in her memory, hoping to bring her cousin home alive. She questions Mimi’s friends and enemies—including Mimi’s shady boyfriend, who refuses to answer her questions, and Beth, who catalyzed the split between the once-close cousins. Meanwhile, the cops announce that they are now hunting a murderer—are they hunting Tanvi?
To preserve her family and find the truth, Tanvi must revisit the worst night of her life and the darkest parts of her past to discover if she’s capable of murder—and the truth of what happened to Mimi.

☂️ TRIGGER WARNINGS:
mentions of murder, mentions of suicide, mentions of anxiety, depression, and bullying.
Another really fun YA mystery! The story follows Tanvi, trying to figure out what happened to her cousin Mimi…while not remembering herself that fateful night.
I really loved how unreliable and messy the story got, at times, keeping me hooked on the mystery from beginning to end. There were some twists and turns I didn’t really see coming and the story was fast-paced enough for me to be captivated by it. I really enjoyed the main character, even if sometimes she was a bit unreliable -missing memory and all. Overall, it was a really entertaining YA mystery I’d recommend for fans of the genre.
