I’m always intrigued to collate this end-of-year list! It’s an insight into what’s been most-read on my blog this year. Always fascinating (to me!) to see how it differs from my favourite reads of the year. I’m loving the selection here, so varied and all of them fantastic.
Caveat here: I’ve only included posts of books that I read and posted about in 2024, so as to keep the results topical. The books themselves may well have been published before 2024. So, here they are…
My 6 most-read reviews of 2024
So happy to see this one on this list! This is a mind-bending, warm, funny, sexy love story with a truly memorable and lovable lead character in Ricki Wilde. If you want a feel-good read with a plot you will never see coming, make sure A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is on your TBR list.
If I had to guess, I’d say the release of Wicked (have you seen it, such a cinematic delight!) this year may have increased search volume for the source / linked material. Wicked is the story of Elphaba and Glinda, the good and bad witches that feature in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Or maybe it was just people loving this childhood classic in its own right, as I thoroughly enjoyed it!
What a read! A novel set during the war (any war actually, but specifically WWI here) wouldn’t be something I’d be drawn to but I picked up In Memoriam after hearing so many great things about it and I’m so glad I did. It’s the heartbreakingly unforgettable love story of Sidney and Henry’s forbidden love.
So good to see Marian Keyes on this list. A classic author for a reason, My Favourite Mistake takes us back to the world of the Walsh Sisters, specifically Anna, who moves from New York back to her homeland of Ireland and embarks on a journey of discovery. All wrapped up in Marian’s trademark charm, humour and warmth.
Interestingly, both All Fours and the above book, My Favourite Mistake feature storylines about peri-menopause – but they couldn’t deliver the stories in more different ways. All Fours is one of the most unique character voices I’ve read this year. The unnamed narrator has an addictive inner monologue and this story of her trying to navigate her mid-40s is just brilliant.
/ Green Dot by Madeleine Gray
One of my first reads of 2024, this dry, witty, funny and highly insightful book is the first I’ve read from the POV of a mistress, but, despite not ever being one myself, Hera is such a relatable character. This is a story of a woman working her way through life, mistakes and all. A true gem of a read, very happy to be rounding up my most-read reviews of 2024 with Green Dot.
So there you have it – I (and some of you!) loved all of these books. Have you read any of these? Let me know below!
