New 2025 books I can’t wait to read – Books on the 7:47

Kicking off the year with a look ahead and there are some very exciting new books being released in 2025. Such a treat to see so many of my must-read authors with new releases!

In this blog post I’m covering books coming out in the first quarter (January – March) that I can’t wait to read. Small caveat – I have, in fact, read three of them already (the first three listed below) and no spoilers but they didn’t let me down so wanted to shout about them!

New 2025 books I can’t wait to read

/ So Thrilled for You by Holly Bourne
Released: 16th January 2025

Holly Bourne writes both YA and adult fiction and is just so good at capturing what’s really going on in a woman’s head. In So Thrilled For You (adult fiction) Holly explores motherhood through a group of four friends, each has a different experience of motherhood and there’s also the small incident of possible arson at a baby shower to contend with. Loved it!

/ Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister
Released: 30th January 2025

Imagine you one day turn on the news to discover your seemingly gentle and non-violent husband has taken two people hostage and is now on the run? That’s what happens to Camilla and we follow her story as she tries to understand what happened. We also get chapters from Niall, the hostage negotiator, to really give drive to this brilliant psychological thriller.

/ Homesick by Silvia Saunders
Released: 30th January 2025

I really enjoy character-led contemporary fiction like this. In Homesick, we meet Mara Lynch, a 26 year old woman living in London contending with the notoriously brutal London housing market, a long-distance boyfriend, an over-familiar boss and just all the general trials and tribulations of life. I really liked Silvia Saunder’s writing style, funny and warm, a total delight!

/ Show Don’t Tell by Curtis Sittenfeld
Released: 27th February 2025

It’s always good to have a short story collection in the mix and Show Don’t Tell by Curtis Sittenfeld looks so good. I loved Romantic Comedy so can’t wait to delve into these 12 stories and meet a host of characters.

/ The Surf House by Lucy Clarke
Released: 27th February 2025

Looking for a failsafe thriller in 2025? Me too – that’s why the new Lucy Clarke book is on my list! The Surf House, her new destination psychological thriller, sees Bea go to, yes, a surf house in Marrakech where, it turns out, a woman who stayed there a year earlier disappeared and it looks like she’s in danger too.

/ Murder at Gulls Nest by Jess Kidd
Released: 13th March 2025

I love Jess Kidd! I find her writing to be so charming and evocative. Murder at Gulls Nest is the first of her new detective series, set in the 1950s and featuring an ex-nun, Nora Breen as our heroine – what’s not to love?

Will you be reading any of these? Let me know your 2025 reading recommendations below!
