On a sunny morning in early May Edward was excited to pack his bag and travel to beautiful Cornwall. Although not a shire, our adventurous bear remembers a most enjoyable visit to this county several years ago – it was chronicled here. Crossing the Tamar bridge he was eager to arrive at his destination, the Talland Bay Hotel. This establishment had made a few changes since his last visit but has retained its offbeat yet luxurious veneer.
As is now usual, Edward was accompanied by Compton, his running bear friend. They settled down on the comfy bed to enjoy a few treats from the hospitality tray. It was then time for a predinner snooze while the bearers walked along the cliff path to the nearby town of Polperro.
The following morning Edward decided he would join in with the planned walk, this time into Looe. He had visited the town on his previous Cornish adventure and remembered the bag of fudge he was presented with. Sadly none of this tasty treat was purchased, the bearers sustaining themselves with fruit. Remaining stoic in the face of disappointment, Edward instead enjoyed the views enroute.
Compton’s big adventure occurred the following morning while Edward took the opportunity to rest. The bearers were leaving early for their chosen parkrun, this time at a National Trust property – Lanhydrock. Although Compton very much enjoyed exploring the location, especially around the pretty river above which trains passed occasionally, he was a tad disappointed that his packed breakfast included pastries rather than cake.
Back at the hotel the bears conferred over the replenished snacks from the hospitality tray. It was decided they would sit out the final walk of the holiday, especially as the sun was hiding behind clouds and it had become rather windy. The bearers don’t seem to mind these conditions, despite their lack of snuggly fur.
All too soon it was time to set off on the journey home, where it was hoped a welcome home cake would be waiting. This did indeed prove to be the case, although the few slices left were eaten so quickly no photos could be taken.
A most enjoyable short break in a lovely location. For anyone interested, Edward’s sterling efforts to enhance the review of the hotel he stayed in may be admired here.
