Author: RuNyx
Genre: Dark Romance, Suspense
Rating: 4.9/5
Hello, hello! Today’s post is a review of the fifth book in the Dark Verse series, The Annihilator, by RuNyx. The fifth couple is introduced in the book, and, oh my God, what a story it is!
But first, here’s the blurb of The Annihilator for you.
What happens when the most ruthless obsession finds its darkest fixation?
She lives in the shadows. He rules them.
She’s the moon, and he the dark night encompassing her.
She’s surrounded by demons, and he’s the biggest devil of them all.
And she’s his.
Passion, obsession, possesion. Theirs is a tale of danger, deviance, dread, desires, and the darkest flavors of love.
Annihilation is born.
The story revolves around Shadow Man. He is an elusive, feared figure in the Dark Verse universe. A man of mystery, power, and shadows, his life is governed by control, vengeance, and strict codes of loyalty. Enter Lyla, a woman with a turbulent past and a spirit that refuses to break.
When their paths collide, it sets off a slow-burning, passionate story filled with deep emotional scars, unhealed wounds, and an undeniable connection neither can ignore. The chemistry between them is magnetic, but their relationship is anything but simple. As secrets unravel and past sins surface, both Shadow Man and Lyla must confront their demons, both internal and external.
The Annihilator is the darkest book in the series, in my opinion. We finally meet Lyla, but what she has gone through in her life is heart-wrenching and emotionally devastating. Shadow man shadows her, literally. The way he loves and cares for her is something else. Lyla’s and Shadowman’s story goes way back, and he has been looking out for her ever since. It’s a twisted but beautiful story, and as readers, we get answers to many questions we had in mind.
When the book finished, my heart was in my mouth because I knew what was coming next. Tristain’s yearning to meet his sister is anything but subtle. The other characters, too, have been looking for her, waiting to find a clue to her existence. Hopefully, all goes well in the end. Fingers crossed!
RuNyx has simply outdone herself with this book! The book is well-paced for the genre. The author’s razor-sharp writing style is something else here. How beautifully she had managed to weave dark, gritty events with emotionally charged moments is for the readers to find out. If you have been following the Dark Verse series, then you cannot resist reading The Annihilator, in particular.
