What are your thoughts on AI (Artificial Intelligence)
My thoughts on AI are everywhere. To straighten things out I listen to a Youtube channel by the name of Parker’s Pensées. This youtuber goes deep in to the philosophy and ethics of AI. Asking big questions of:
What if AI gain conscience?
How can we be able to tell if it conscience?
Will AI ever be sentient? Able to have feelings and emphasize?
These are things we do not fully understand ourselves. Something science can not fully explain either.
As for creative spaces, there always going to be lazy hacks. Well this may be controversial to say, I do think AI can be use to help with inspiration. Where the line is draw in that? I honestly do not know.
I for one do not used AI art. Out of curiosity dabble in it to see how it work. Having a background in art competition AI art always looks off and uncanny. That further proves that art has an objective standard in how its made.
What people forget is that the AI we have now is not really intelligent. Its a sophisticated form of computer programing. Someone puts in information know as logic and the AI regurgitate information out.
The search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo have been around near the beginning of the internet are forms of AI. Computer scientist have evolve this form of coding over time until we got ChatGPA. Who to say that the people doing the programing are not going to put in their biases?
Going back to the questions above. I believe we are a ways off from creating actual AI. When we do, who knows what will happen.
Science fiction books and movies warns us that AI will take over the world. That is a western cultural view on AI. Which is interesting because eastern cultures have a more positive outlook on AI technology. Having watch anime it is a theme that appears quit a bit.
These are my thoughts on AI. I do not lean entirely one way or the other on it. I believe there are exciting potential uses with this new technology. Knowing how flaw humanity is, there are going to be people who are going to use it poorly.
In sum AI is a tool. It is not good or bad. Its the person using the AI that has good or bad intention.
