What I Read in April 2025 – Books on the 7:47

The season of al fresco reading is here and it’s a delight! I had quite an eclectic month in terms of reads – from the fantasy book everyone is talking about to an Agatha Christie classic, a fascinating memoir and a crime read with heart. Let’s delve in…

My April Book Reviews:

(Click on book title for my full review.)

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

/ The Death of Us by Abigail Dean

/ Elephants Can Remember by Agatha Christie

/ Sociopath by Patric Gagne

I finished the last published book in the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros – Onyx Storm. It was the release of this book back in January that set me on a little fantsay / romantasy path this year.

It’s not a genre I’ve read in a long time (since The Hunger Games, really) and I have to say, it’s so nice to be reading books that are so far removed from reality. Anything can happen, there are dragons and hot men, what more do you want really? And talk about cliff hangers – although I had thoughts on Onyx Storm, I will 100% be reading the next book.

Elephants Can Remember doesn’t go down as one of Agatha’s best but it does feature Poirot and Ariadne Oliver, so if you’re a fan of that duo (like me!) then it’s a pleasant read.

The Death of Us is an emotional crime drama following a couple in the aftermath of a home invasion. Really well written, it looks at the complexity of trauma.

I managed a non-fiction read this month too, Sociopath is Patric Gagne’s memoir of being a sociopath, how she navigates this and people’s perceptions of her. Very interesting.

Until next month, happy reading!

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
