What I Read in March 2025 – Books on the 7:47

I started 2025 on a reading high, really felt like I’d got into a good pace with it and had some excellent books lined up to read. Happy to say that three months into the year and I’m still enjoying it so much. After a bit of a reading blip last year, it feels so nice to be devouring amazing stories regularly again.

March brought some brilliant reads, so let’s dive in…

My March Book Reviews:

(Click on book title for my full review.)

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

/ Murder at Gulls Nest by Jess Kidd

/ The Grapevine by Kate Kemp

/ The Paris Express by Emma Donoghue

/ Thirst by Marina Yuszczuk

Last month I read Fourth Wing, the first in the Empyrean series and it didn’t take me long to listen to the audiobook for the the second book in the series, Iron Flame. It was literally everything I wanted it to be and upped the cliffhanger stakes from book one. Genuinely such fun to read, highly recommend dipping a toe in fantasy/romantasy if you haven’t already!

I love author Jess Kidd and it was such a treat to read her latest novel, Murder at Gull’s Nest which combined gentle historical fiction with a murder mystery, a really engrossing, charming read. Another historical read was The Paris Express – based upon a real train crash in 1895, it imagines the lives of people on the train, lots of them noted in history. A great blend of fact and fiction.

Rounding off the month with two very different reads – The Grapevine is set in 1970s Australia and conjures up a heady, claustrophobic atmosphere of secrets and lies, while Thirst centres around my favourite of the mythical creatures – vampires. It’s been ages since I’ve read a vampire novel and this was really good – highly recommend!

Until next month, happy ready!
