It feels like it was only a year ago I was listing countries on our shortlist for that year’s trip. The trip that never happened. But it might have been a lifetime ago. In the three years that passed, our world was turned upside and our party of two expanded to include a little human.
Did that anchor us down and made us stop travelling? Not in the slightest.
Our first trip together was to York when she was only 2 months old, first flight at 6 months old to Croatia, and now we are finally doing our first long haul trip.

We are leaving within 6 weeks. This trip was completely unplanned and a spur of the moment that happened only because I found really cheap plane tickets.
How cheap is cheap? Let’s just say I was looking at flying to Dubrovnik to see my sister end of May (just me and The Child) and return tickets with no bags (Ryanair) would have cost me only £60 less than 3 return tickets to Japan with 4 bags per person. Honestly, I was glad I was sitting down when I saw the price of those Dubrovnik tickets!
