Q: Let’s start from the beginning. Growing up what was life like for a young Antonio. Who were some of your DJs that inspired you?
Antonio: Back in my days we had a lot of great DJ’s, Kid Capri, DJ Quik, DJ Clue, Dr Dre, and the list goes on for me.
Q: What was the first time that you knew that DJing was something that you really wanted to do?
Antonio: When I went to parties I would observe how the DJs interact with the crowd, and I love how the crowd would respond when that favorite song was played.
Q: How was it when you DJed your first event in front of a live crowd? Were you nervous? How did you get the crowd to adjust to that DJ King Tut movement?
Antonio: My very first event at Club Chameleon known as T Valley now. I actually choked, and got very nervous because it was packed, and all the support made me freeze up, but luckily my friend Lady MC (Miranda) was there to save me. Shout out to her!
Q: The DJ King Tut brand was beginning to take off. DJing at the club every weekend. Getting booked to DJ at parties, and landing your own mixshow on a radio station. Then everything got put on hold from an old legal issue. At that moment how did you feel when you were changing your life doing something positive, and a mistake from the past changed everything?
Antonio: When this situation came about I was hurt, I was finally pursuing my passion and now my past came to haunt me and I felt like it was over for me.
Q: For the last nine years your life was put on hold. What helped you get through the process day to day?
Antonio: By God’s grace and the endless support I received from my family and friends.
Q: If you could go back, what would yourself today tell a young Antonio?
Antonio: Make good decisions and stay focused, understand the assignment.
Q: Is there any advice that you would like to give to the young youth out here today?
Antonio: Set goals for yourself, set the bar high, surround yourself around positive people.
Q: So you’re back home, what new music are you’re listening to, what new mixes are you’re working on?
Antonio: I’m still old school, but it’s a few of these young artists music I would listen to. Basically I’m just trying to get my groove back because it’s been a minute. But I’m working on some old school mixes right now.
Q: What are your goals for 2025?
Antonio: My biggest goal is be the best version of me.
Q: Thank you for conducting this interview with The R Report. Are there any last comments that you would like to make?
Antonio: Much love to The R Report Magazine, and a special shout out to you Patrick for the continuous support you have shown me through my entire time I was down, Love fam!
