Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love being in the mountains. We usually visit the Blue Ridge Mountains in north Georgia in the fall. It’s absolutely beautiful, with the leaves changing colors, a chill in the air and the fun of visiting the unique small towns located around gorgeous forests.
I also love to hike. Each time we go, I find a new trail to explore. I include favorite trails that I must revisit whenever we’re there. It’s a place that speaks to my soul, so what better way to create a fictional town in my Golden, Georgia series than to draw from the actual location.
Golden is actually a mix of two of my favorite towns. Once I decided to set my stories there, the little town instantly formed in my head. As I write additional books, I discover new businesses, character homes or locations to explore in the surrounding areas. It allows me to feel like I’m really there in the mountain region, one of the perks of having an active imagination.
Sit back while I show off a few of my favorite sites.
Anna Ruby Falls located outside of Helen, Georgia. My favorite place on earth! A must see whenever I’m in the area.
There are also beautiful lakes in this area to draw stories from. In fact, in The Surprise Next Door, my characters get to go boating on the lake.
And I can’t forget small town delights.
And finally, hiking paths.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a snapshot of my inspiration for Golden. I’ve had a wonderful time setting my stories here and look forward to writing more books that include this beautiful location.
