My Review

Oh, my! I just finished reading Fire Mountain, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The story feels like a wild ride on an active volcano—ready to blow at any moment. With a few earthquakes thrown in, it becomes clear this novel won’t follow a predictable path. In this novel, nature shows its raw power, reminding us it can’t be tamed. Everything is unpredictable, and surprises are waiting around every corner.

Kit and Cullen are both stubborn and brave. Sometimes their strong wills clash, especially as they care for a nine-month-old mystery baby. The little one is nicknamed Tot, and dangerous men are after her. They want the baby, ten thousand dollars, and are searching for Tot’s mother, who stole something they want back. All of this plays out while the countdown to a volcanic eruption continues. The danger feels very real, and the ticking clock keeps the story intense, your heart beating fast, and it’s impossible to put down; believe me, I tried. Who needs sleep? 

In the middle of all this chaos, a romance starts to blossom between Kit and Cullen. Their closeness is driven by being stuck together and giving each other support. Trust seems to naturally grow as they rely on each other in these tough moments.

Fire Mountain is full of action and tension from start to finish and doesn’t let up. It’s the first book in a new series called “Elements of Danger”, which fits perfectly. Dana Mentink skillfully writes stories that keep you engaged and wondering what will happen next.
